Digital Accessibility — Our Ongoing Commitment

This article highlights our ongoing work to improve accessibility and our belief that an inclusive digital world benefits everyone.

Accessibility: a shared responsibility

Accessibility is more than a technical feature — it is a matter of human rights and equal participation. At the Rotary Club of World Disability Advocacy, we believe that everyone should be able to access, understand, and interact with online content regardless of their abilities, devices, or assistive technologies.

Digital inclusion ensures that websites, forms, videos, and images are designed for everyone — whether someone navigates by touch, voice, or screen reader. It transforms technology into a bridge rather than a barrier.

Our ongoing journey

We recognize that our website is still evolving and may not yet meet every success criterion of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2) — the globally accepted framework that became an international standard through ISO/IEC 40500. These guidelines help creators design digital environments that are perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users.

Our team is working step by step to make this portal easier to navigate, more readable, and compatible with a wide range of devices and assistive tools. This includes adding text alternatives for images, improving color contrast, simplifying page structures, and ensuring logical navigation for keyboard users.

Why it matters

When digital content is accessible, it empowers people — opening doors to education, work, and civic participation. Accessibility is not only a technical goal; it is an expression of Rotary’s core values of service, equity, and community.

Looking ahead

Accessibility is a continuous commitment, not a finished task. We welcome feedback from users and partners who can help us identify barriers and make improvements. Together, we can create a digital space that reflects the inclusive world we are building offline — one where everyone belongs, contributes, and thrives.
